Spier Films is a part of the wider Spier company – www.spier.co.za  - which is a South African company dedicated to the preservation and promotion of Arts and Culture amongst other things. In the realisation of its vision, Spier began working with a Cape Town township theatre group called Dimpho Di Kopane and director Mark Dornford-May in the theatrical productions of “U-Carmen eKhayelitsha” and “The Mysteries. After very successful global tours it was decided to make “U-Carmen” and “The Mysteries” in to films and thus Spier Films was born.
